#24 Noé Sendas | The Lady Vanishes

<The Lady Vanishes>
A collaboration with Wallpaper magazine.
Body, 3-dimentional object, got cut out by 2-dimentional paper. In black and white, models lie on the chair or ground powerlessly, heads removed by paper. Sense of death and desperate are shown without telling.

#23 TIM WALKER | Dolls

Tim Walker
London Fashion Photographer

Dolls are the most innocent but also creepiest object in the world. Tim Walker juxtaposed oversized dolls and models in the nature, to make a playful attempt of visual interest.

I especially like the one above. The huge doll sits at the corner of the room, having tea with the model in the dim light, cracks of the tea set on the ground, shadow casting at the back. What has happened between them? Did they have an argument or fight? Why the model looks so sad? Maybe the doll is just one self reflection of the girl, revealing the loneliness of the girl.

#22 Bill Brandt | Nude Photography

Bill Brandt

British photographer and photojournalist of 20th century.
I love his nude series the most. By the extreme close-up, or wide-angle lens, and sometimes the harsh light, the body are distorted, more like a sculpture.

This is one of my favorite from his photos. The black area of the upper right an down left are well balanced. And for the center part, the shapes of the ass are so smooth and soft, with very even light. It, for me, looks more like a landscape.

#21 Jeff Bark | Staged Photogrpahy

Jeff Bark, New York based photographer

In Jeff's photographs, characters are staged in bizarre and dreamy atmosphere to tell surreal narratives.

In the 3 photographs above, women are put into the position of power and violence, in fancy and luxurious dresses, ruling the rest of the naked men. The set design and the lighting situation are all very natural, while the exaggerate make-up and costumes place a conflict to build a dark and fantasy feeling.

#20 Eamonn Doyle | Individuals

http://www.michaelhoppengallery.com/artists/35-eamonn-doyle/overview/#/artworks/9981
Eamonn Doyle worked in the independent music for about 20 years until he began his photography career two years ago.
In his work, he takes photos of individuals mainly from their back. Facial expressions are usually missed in frame, however through the various gestures, clothing, hair styles, and body shapes, we try to know these people in a way. I especially appreciate the color tone and the harsh shadows in these pictures, make the individual stand out from the cool-grey road background.

#19 ALEXANDFELIX | Surrealism

<Under Construction>
One of the key to make a successful photograph is to make a main focus for the audience, not to confuse them by providing too much information. Here, we have an example of extremely fruitful images, piled up with countless objects. Yet, we don't get overwhelmed, instead we get increasingly interested in the objects around the head, like sneaking into the head of the person. The surreal make-up of the subjects makes the image a canvas of dreamland, where you tangled with the subjects' mind.

#18 William Hundley | Experiments

http://www.williamhundley.com/index.php?/ongoing/experiment-experiment-experiment/

An artwork does't have to be decent and clean to be successful, sometimes nasty is also a way of expression. Here is an example of messing up images to remove certain elements in the portraits, and so we no longer recognize the face of the models. I love the experimental idea of this work, despite of the missing of further concept.
